Daycare

Welcome To The Schwartz/Reisman Centre Daycare and Preschool

At the Schwartz/Reisman Centre Daycare and Preschool, we believe it’s essential for children to feel like they’re part of a healthy and vibrant community.

Our Daycare and Preschool are taking part in the Canada Wide Early Learning and Child Care (CWELCC) funding system. Our team has been working diligently to ensure that we can continue to provide the high level of service to our families while making early childhood education more affordable to our community.

The implementation of the CWELCC System is a five-year plan which includes improving affordability, enhancing quality, increasing childcare access, supporting inclusion, and supporting data reporting. The Province of Ontario has committed to implementing a system in stages. CWELCC fee reduction is implemented on the daycare fees. Fees based on estimated CWELCC funding are subject to change prior to the start date.

Your infant will experience educational and developmental play while receiving the nurturing and loving support needed to feel at home. At this early age, we ensure that children begin to engage with their Jewish identity by celebrating holidays and traditions using Hebrew songs, stories and finger play. Our Cooking class allows the preschool and JK/SK children to develop a wide range of skills that go beyond just cooking. They learn important life skills such as teamwork, problem-solving, and creativity, all while gaining an appreciation for different cultures and cuisines.

A Welcoming Community

When your child becomes enrolled at the Prosserman JCC Daycare and Preschool, you are joining more than just the school community. Parents and siblings are welcomed to experience our fitness centre and exercise classes, art programs, family events and much more as part of the JCC family.

A Welcoming Community

Sheva Learning Framework

Seven principles guide our Sheva Program: children as constructivist learners, early childhood directors as visionaries, early childhood educators as professionals, families as engaged partners, environments as inspiration for inquiry, discover CATCH as Sh’mirat Haguf (taking care of our body) and Israel as a source and resource.

Practicing Judaism

Starting at an early age, we ensure that children begin to engage with their Jewish identity by celebrating holidays and traditions through songs, crafts, dancing, storytelling and enjoying traditional holiday foods. Celebrating Jewish traditions and values enriches the Jewish experience for each child. A favourite experience of the children is baking fresh challah and participating in our Shabbat celebrations.

Our Educators

Each teacher has been carefully selected and oriented to our school’s values, philosophy, and community to provide the finest early childhood education possible. They view themselves as partners in your child’s development and your family’s growth. Teachers work collaboratively to create environments that spark wonder and creativity, build confidence and skills, allow children to explore materials, and encourage a questioning mind.

The J Experience

The JCC has a proud history of bringing people together from across the community, through education, the arts, sports, and other cultural activities that create meaningful memories and relationships that last a lifetime. It’s time for the community to talk together, work out together, sing together, and be together. It’s Time for Togetherness!

The J Experience

Our activities

Music/Creative Movement

Our music class focuses on the Jewish holidays and traditions. The children will learn new songs and vocabulary related to the celebration of the Jewish holidays.

Shabbat

Every Friday, children will engage in the Shabbat tradition.

Sheva

We follow the seven elements of the Sheva Early Learning Framework.

Swimming

Our swimming program is designed to develop gross motor skills and build confidence in the water. Children enjoy instructional and recreational swimming in our Indoor Aquatic Centre. The teacher-to-student ratio in the pool is 1:5, ensuring adequate supervision. A certified instructor is always present to oversee the children during their assigned swim period. Safety is our number one priority; all preschool children wear life jackets while in the water.
Our JK/SK children participate in Red Cross swimming lessons as part of their enriched curriculum.

Art & Dance

Our Art class allows the preschool and JK/SK children the opportunity to use their imagination while enhancing the use of their fine motor skills to display their creativity.

Our Dance class allows the preschool and JK/SK children the opportunity to use their gross motor skills, coordination, balance and enhance their self-esteem.

Sports (Toddler - SK Only)

Our sports program develops children’s gross motor skills and increases their self confidence. The children will learn different sports, games, and team work while having fun! Sports take place in the Sydney and Florence Cooper and Family Sports Hall located at the Schwartz/Reisman Centre.
